Exhibition at Museum of Modern Art Arnhem

The MMKA strives to be a museum recognized for quality and experimentation. Each year the museum uses its strong points to develop a recognizable substantive program with a clear rhythm. The presentation policy – the organization of exhibitions – is primarily focused on ‘forms of realism’ and ‘art from Arnhem’. Realism is the most significant centre of excellence of the existing collections. The museum has been built upon this foundation and is thus distinctive when compared to other competing museums.

The museum also regularly displays objects or temporary exhibitions of decorative arts and visual art from before 1900. In addition, the museum is expressly interested in acting as a platform for recent and current art and design from Arnhem. It wishes to play a stimulating, facilitating, and initiating role in showcasing the creative biotope.

In 2008, MMKA partnered with IFAA as one of IFAA’S 2008 Major exhibition partners. Through this partnership, 6 of IFAA artists were able to exhibit their work at the Museum of Modern Art in
Arnhem, among them: Teresa Maria Diaz Nerio, Mansour Ciss, Frouwkje Smit, Alite Thijsen, Pelagie Gbaguidi, Nkosikhona Ngcobo and Rob Sweere.
